PUBLIC WIFI HOTSPOTS

What is Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi, also called a Wi-Fi hotspot, or wireless Internet, is the computer equivalent of a cordless phone. Most laptop computers sold in the last 3 years have a small radio receiver in them that will allow them to connect to the Internet without any wires, as long as they are in range of a Wi-Fi transmitter.

What does Netstop offer?

Netstop installs and maintains these Wi-Fi transmitters in locations like motels, hotels, service stations, parks etc., anywhere that a traveller may want to open their laptop and use the Internet. (These wireless transmitters have a similar range to a cordless phone, about 200 meters).

Your business can install one of these transmitters and offer Internet access to travellers with laptop computers, selling them an access code that will allow them a certain amount of time on the Internet.

What about offering free Wi-Fi?

In some businesses it makes sense to offer Wi-Fi free to customers, as a way of differentiating yourself from other businesses. If you wish to offer free Wi-Fi, we still recommend a code based system like Netstop for two reasons. Firstly, it gives you the technical separation between your computers and your customer's. Secondly, it keeps a limit on your Internet usage so that the speed is evenly shared among all users - preventing one user from taking advantage.
